When we consider the challenges American homeless children face everyday through no fault of their own we can see the need for clothes, access to recreation and every day resources many of us take for granted. We will be looking for established non-profit partners who have giving models to directly reach these children quickly and efficiently.
No one knows what it is like to be homeless unless it has happened to them, so instead of trying to figure out how someone got to that point in their lives HBU wants to focus on how to help them now. We will support efforts that provide free education and employment skills to homeless parents to help them find gainful employment through partnership with local homeless nonprofits in the communities where we live and work.
According to the International policy digest, there are an estimated 500 thousand homeless people living without permanent housing in the United States. The problem is very dynamic and can occur as a result of a number of different factors and the solution needs to be dynamic as well. Local state programs, religious organizations, and the business community should be working together to assist these people in their climb back up to a position of self sufficiency. HBU is proud to join those already working on this important challenge across the country where we have an active presence.
Creativity allows us to be free. Music, dance, drawing and creating something with your hands, mind and emotions help us feel something wonderful, and releases our inner creative energy. As children, we need this experience, and as a homeless child it is even more important. HBU supports the arts through partnering and giving to arts programs providing such art experiences to the homeless in each city where we have a presence.
HBU is excited to find the Drawbridge program bringing art to the homeless children and we want to help. You can find out more about this program at Drawbridge. If you have a program similar to Drawbridge please forward your recommendations to firstname.lastname@example.org.
